Aromatherapy uses:
One of the most popular and versatile essential oils.
Skin: Suitable for all skin types, it is beneficial for conditions involving inflammation such as acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, boils and wounds.
It is useful for the treatment of sunburn, wounds and general burns as it has antiseptic, analgesic and cytophylactic properties (stimulate the generation of new skin cells) which ease the pain of wounds or burns, prevents infection and promotes rapid healing.
Musculoskeletal: Beneficial for relieving muscular aches and pains, often used in the treatment of Rheumatism, sciatica, and arthritis.
Nervous system: A harmonising effect, suitable for both physical and emotional stress without negatively affecting normal mental wellbeing. Depending on the concentration it can either exert a sedative (low concentration) or stimulant (high concentration) action. Reproductive system: Beneficial for relieving premenstrual tension and menstrual paid. It is also found to reduce anxiety, relive pain and uplift emotions.
Respiratory system: Reccomended for the treatment of colds, flu, bronchitis, throat infections and catarrhal conditions. Lavender is beneficial for asthma when of a nervous origin as it relaxes the person enabling easier breathing.
Safety: Non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitising, however, has been associated with contact dermatitis with aromatherapists due to oxidation or aging of essential oil.
Suggested Blends:
Reduce scarring: Lavender essential oil 2%, peach kernel oil 50%, Fractionated coconut oil 20%, Virgin coconut oil 20% Rosehip essential oil 3%, Calendula infused oil 5%.
Asthma: in a Necklace diffuser pendant – Lavender 1 drop, Ravensara 1 drop and Eucalyptus radiata 1 drop.
Night time pulse point – 5 drops Lavender, the rest fractionated coconut oil (as it is easily absorbed) in a 10ml roller ball bottle. Roll a small amount onto the temples half an hour before bed time.
